Strong Password Generator — Secure & Random
Reused and simple passwords are the #1 cause of hacked accounts. This generator creates strong, truly random passwords using your browser's secure randomness — choose the length and character types, see the strength, and copy with one click. Nothing is stored, logged or sent anywhere.
How to use this tool
- Set the length — 16+ characters is recommended for important accounts.
- Tick the character types to include (more types = stronger).
- Press Generate until you like the result; watch the strength bar.
- Click the 📋 icon to copy, then paste it into your password manager.
Frequently asked questions
Are these passwords safe to use?
Yes. They're generated with your browser's cryptographically secure random generator (Web Crypto), and nothing is transmitted, stored or logged — the password exists only on your screen. Refresh the page and it's gone forever.
How long should my password be?
For important accounts, aim for 16 characters or more with mixed types. Length matters most: a long password is exponentially harder to crack. The strength meter shows entropy in bits — over 70 bits is very strong.
Should I use symbols?
They help, but length helps more. A 20-character password of just letters and numbers can be stronger than a short one crammed with symbols. If a site rejects certain symbols, untick Symbols and add a few characters of length instead.
How do I remember these?
You shouldn't try — use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, or your browser's built-in one) to store a unique generated password for every site. You then only remember one master password. This is the single biggest upgrade to your online security.
Why are similar-looking characters excluded?
By default we skip easily-confused characters (like O/0 and l/1) so passwords are easier to read and type by hand when you must. This barely affects strength and greatly reduces typos.
