Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between NICOP and POC?

NICOP is the identity card for Pakistani citizens living abroad (including dual nationals). POC (Pakistan Origin Card) is for foreigners of Pakistani origin who have renounced Pakistani citizenship where dual nationality isn't allowed. POC fees are higher than NICOP fees.

Can I apply for NICOP online without visiting a NADRA centre?

Yes — NADRA's Pak-Identity portal (id.nadra.gov.pk) lets you apply, upload documents, pay by card and receive the card by courier. First-time applicants may need biometrics at a NADRA centre or registered agent depending on the case.

Why do Zone A applicants pay more than Zone B?

NADRA prices its overseas services by region: Zone A (North America, Europe, Australia) has higher fees than Zone B (Gulf, Middle East, Asia and others). The zones reflect local purchasing power, not different cards — the NICOP itself is identical.

Do children need their own NICOP?

Yes, every family member — including children — needs their own card (children get a Child Registration Certificate first, then NICOP from age 18, though juvenile NICOP cards are also issued for travel convenience). Each application is charged separately.

Is NICOP enough to travel to Pakistan without a visa?

Yes. A valid NICOP lets dual nationals enter Pakistan visa-free and stay indefinitely. It also serves as your official ID for banking, property and SIM registration in Pakistan.
